Physician/Clinical Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS


* For a Physician Assistant - Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
* For a Clinical Assistant - Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad. Must have at least one of the following: Completion of RCA 1 exam, NAC OSCE, LMCC.
* Eligibility to be licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
* Flexible with superior organization skills and ability to work efficiently to prioritize multiple, competing tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Ability to show sound judgment and discretion, make decisions and take initiative while working with confidential patient information and patient inquiries.
* Superior work ethic, professionalism and reliability.
* Commitment to high standards in patient care and knowledge of safe work practices.
* Above average written/oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate factual information and detailed explanations.
* Experience in an Operating Room environment would be an asset for the Surgery applicants.
 

Our Physician/Clinical Assistants participate as key members of our collaborative team of Physicians, Nurses, Residents and other support members that make up the Surgical teams.  Principle responsibilities will include having a strong theoretical knowledge base and advanced level of clinical experience in caring for General Surgery patients. 

Duties are as follows:

The General Surgery position will include surgical assisting in the OR as well as clinical management of surgical inpatients on the ward alongside a team of 4 Physician/Clinical Assistants and 5 General Surgeons. You will also engage in daily ward rounds and Emergency Room consults.  Strong clinical documentation skills will be an asset.

Surgical Assist on-call will include coverage for all surgical fields including Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedic Services, and General Surgery.
